I have a lot of friends in higher education, but I don't know anybody who attends UCR. So I have a few questions about the school:
What's the ideal dorm and how are the bathrooms in each?
Are clubs easy to start up? Or do most function as fillers for grad school apps?
How many people are typically enrolled in Bio for each graduating class?
Are research opportunities really that easy to obtain and how hard do you need to work
in each position?
Is the weather as dry as people depict it?</p>
<p>It would really help with my decision if somebody attending UCR would be willing to answer my questions!</p>
<p>Pentland is the best dorm in my opinion. It has one bathroom for 3 or 4 rooms. I am not in a club and not interested in starting up a club so I don’t know. There were about 300 students in my Bio class. There are couple of research opportunities in ucr and I do not know how hard is it to get into research. I think its hard for 1st and 2nd year to get into research group, but it is not impossible. I was able to get in at 2nd year and the professor I work for only accepted two students from his class to his research group in my year. However, I do know some professors have open spots for undergraduate students and are willing to take 2nd year students. I usually work around three hours three times a week, but I did work for 6 hours in the lab before. April through Septemeber is the hot season in my opinion and you only have to endure for April, May, half of June, and half of September.</p>
<p>How are the meals and what meal plan do people usually prefer?</p>
<p>I didn’t find the campus food bad. I thought for the most part it was fairly good except it can get kind of repetitive. Get the cheapest meal plan (Highlander 120) because you won’t need more meals/dining dollars than that. I believe you also get guest passes to take people to the dining halls with you.</p>
<p>The meals can be used at the A&I and Lothian dining halls, Logo’s (in Lothian), and the Culinary Chameleon (a food truck, but only during certain times)
The dining dollars are like cash on your id card. You can take it to any on campus food location and use it like a debit card. There is Coffee Bean, Subway, Panda Express, and lot of other on campus food/coffee places.</p>
