a few questions from a hopeful...

Applyin RD but stupid school policy says we have to get everything in by Dec. 1. Dunno if it can be done but anyways…

So the Mid-year reports are supposed to be in by Feb. 1… so do they become factors in the RD admissions process? or is it just to see if we’re keepin our grades up?

In the “Few Details” section, when they ask for a “favorite recording”, do they mean like music albums?

Ok, I know the “summers” isn’t really an essay, but for those of you who have online access, what’s the maximum character/words we are allowed to write for it?

Thanks and good luck guys.

I've been wondering this myself.

CD, song, whatever you want.

I think it's unlimited? It seemed like it was.

i too am confused about the midyear report...considering my first semester senior grades are going to SUCK, i hope it wont count for much

ohh miss zanna hit it on the spot

the limit is pretty large...i know there IS one, but its a lot of words before space runs out

bump... can anybody answer question 1 please? (assuming u DO know)

If you are applying RD, I'm pretty sure that your 1st semester senior grades play a factor. That's one of the disadvantages (or advantage i guess) of applying ED because if you have a crappy gpa, you can't show that upward trend in senior year.

if ur gpa drops a bit they wont care...however, if you go from all a's to all c's then they have the power to rescind their offer of admission or not take u in the first place

yeah, but if you're an all A student and you get a couple of Bs, I heard it doesn't do much. It's only a DRASTIC drop like hopeful89 said, from As to Cs or Bs to Fs

lol Bs to Fs......come on

1 - Yup, last year the EDers were chosen by Dec 15 and the mid-year reports served more to show you weren't slacking off too much. Even the high achieving kids got some senioritis, but as long as it isn't too drastic a drop like from all A's to all C's, you should be fine. Getting a B or two doesn't seem to matter after you're in.

a YALE adcom officer said in all his 25 years of working in the admissions office, NOT 1 KID was revoked. he said that if someone's grades were really declining, he asked him/her to write a letter explaining his circumstances.

my guess is that they really dont like to rescind admission offers, because that would be really "screwing" the kid over. cuz he wouldn't have sent in any other apps, or becuz may has passed(the deadline for attendance notification)
