A few questions from a prospective student

Hi, I'm a junior in highschool who thinks he has a shot at getting into Villanova based on high school resume (don't know about VSB because I don't know the admission differences) and I am extremely interested in the Villanova School of Business and I have a few questions.

-Does geographical diversity and minority status play any role in admission?
-How much harder is it to get into the Business school than the other schools?
-Is it harder to get accepted as a EA applicant or a RD applicant?
-What is the general GPA and SAT range for VSB students?

Thanks for the help.

-I believe (although, I'm not 100% positive) that geographical diversity does play a slight slight role in admission, as minority status takes a slightly bigger role.
-It's a reasonable amount harder to get into VSB, especially with the rising number of applications. I would say it's just a bit more competitive than the other schools.
-Admissions says it is more difficult to get into Villanova as an EA student.
-The general HS GPA is probably around 3.8 while the SAT mid-range scores is 1360-1440 (without writing, obviously)

hope i helped!!

average SAT score for VSB is 1302

http://bwnt.businessweek.com/interactive_reports/undergrad_bschool_2009/

the average of 1302 is dragged down heavily by the SAT scores of the senior class. 4 years ago VSB was not nearly as difficult to get into - your score will probably have to be in the 1350+ range for next year considering the range of this years freshmen

if it helps, i got into VSB EA this year with these stats:
2100 SAT, 3.67 UW GPA
GREAT essays for business school (might have been my hook)
really kind teacher/counselor recs
fair ECs
very little community service
i'm jewish (and talked all about it in my supplemental essay), which might have helped

At the VSB EA accepted students day they gave us statistics about the # of apps they received this year per the # of spaces they had available for the incoming class... i forget the exact numbers, but i will ask my parents and get back to you.

just know: School of Business and Early Action are individually two of the hardest programs to get into at Villanova. If you apply VSB //and// EA, you will be competing against the very best applicants.

good luck with everything!

last fall i went to one of novas business school's open house and they said that the incoming class (2012) had an average sat score of 1400.

sundress is right, by applying to vsb early, you will be competing with some of the most qualified applicants-but if you really love villanova, i say go for it, because you're showing interest in the school. Also, if you have time, visit the school, go to their vsb open house, talk to the admission's councilor if they come to school...it'll give you an extra boost compared to the kid who just applied there on a whim

Thanks so much for the info guys. I'm not sure how valid this is, but my college counselor said that the 2009 class happened to be one of the most competitive classes in years and the 2010 class isn't competitive at all compared to the '09 class. Something along those lines. I'm visiting the school in may so I'll get more info there. Hopefully, being from Hawaii and half filipino plays a slight role since the school is 80% Caucasian. I have a full AP/IB schedule as well (getting Bs in all of them basically) which averages to around a 4.0 weighted but a crappy unweighted gpa. My freshman year was very mediocre but I've improved tremendously since then. I don't know if 'nova looks at that though.

With my stats (varsity basketball, habitat 4 humanity, community service trip for H4H to Lancaster, PA, and starting the future business leaders of america club next year) and grades, I don't think I have a shot at EA. If I do end up doing EA and get rejected, can I apply for RD? Sorry for the barrage of questions.

Hello,
I have been considering three schools, namely, Tabor, Taft and St. Georges. Can you give me opinions on the three because I am very confused as I have to reply by 10th April.

How would you rank the schools overall? Academically and athletic wise?
