Ok my questions concern the UC schools. I'm asking here because in UC section it takes forever to get answers. Deadlines are approaching and I need answers like FAST. Ok so, if I'm in NJ and my parents make below 40k, how much aid would I get? Is it true the UC's don't give out that much financial aid to OOS? If yes, then there's no way I can afford 60k a year + travel, food, necessities, etc. What's the average I can get? Also, can I use the same UC essay for two different UC schools? I'm applying to UCLA and UCB. Please answer fast so I know whether I want to write their essays!!!!!!

1) UC’s will cost OOS applicants around $55K/year. The minimum amount you would have to pay would be the OOS tuition of $23K to the maximum of $55K/year. If your EFC is zero, you would still have to come up with the $23K. Most financial aid is available to California residents since UC’s are state funded by us California taxpayers.

2) You use the same two UC essays for all UC’s schools.

Post your Stats and CC posters can give you an idea if it is worth applying.

Hey thanks for your reply!! And I posted my stats but no one is answering ahaha. For those of you who see this, PLEASE let me know if it’s worth applying to:

my stats are on there.

Also, I can afford up until 30k so yeah.

Harsh1296: Your Stats are competitive so I would say a High Match. You say you can afford $30K, however; there is no sure way to know if you will get close to $25K-30K from the UC’s. I seriously doubt it, but go ahead and apply to prove me wrong. The UC’s are looking for OOS applicants that are pretty much full-pay, so even stating that in theory the minimum you may have to pay is $23K, reality is very few OOS applicants get that much FA. I have been looking at UC posts for the last few years and I have only seen in-state applicants get a large amount of aid not OOS.

Good Luck.
