A few questions on admission

Stony brook is my first choice school and i'm really determined to get into stony brook.

My Sat scores are:

1070(Math:510 Reading:560)

My overall grade is a 84 and I have a lot of activities and community service.
For example the outreach program, welfare to work program, also clubs like the Film Club.

I'm currently taking one AP course in my senior year(AP government and Economics)

I'm from westchester
race: african american

I firstly wanted to know my chances.

After seeing around the forums and what not i don't think that they are high so i bet my chances are pretty slim and i really want to get into stonybrook for its computer science program and to be with my best friends.
I wanted to know if i wasn't accepted for Freshman year could I go to another college and apply for transfer for the spring of freshman year? Because i heard you don't get your first semester grades till mid-late decemeber so i thought it might be a problem.

Great question, actually. Yes, your GPA/SAT look low for admission this fall; we're likely going to have a large, competitive applicant pool.

But as far as transferring goes -- typically, we're looking for at least one full year, with 24 credits and at least a 3.0 GPA COMPLETED for transfer admission. If you were not admitted as a freshman, it'd be nearly impossible for you to complete the minimum transfer requirements in time for next spring, unfortunately. Your best bet would be the following fall (or later).

I know it's not the answer you were hoping for, but those are the general guidelines. Hope it helps.
