a few questions

Hi everyone, I found out yesterday I will not be able to return to the private school I attended this past fall in NC due to financial issues. I decided to return to my home state of NJ and applied for Fall 2012 term last night. I had a 3.6 in high school and a 3.65 my freshman year of college. I also was admitted to Rutgers last year if that makes any difference.

-Have any of you ever applied so late and still gotten in?

-How hard is it for transfer students to make friends at Rutgers, pending that I do get in and decide to attend?

-How difficult is it for transfers to get housing this late in the game?

Thanks for any help!

I’m not if you can even apply now. I would call admissions for your case. And I believe all transfers have a opportunity for housing for their first year. After that, its like a lottery system I believe.

In New Brunswick the School of Arts and Sciences and School of Environmental and Biological Sciences are still accepting transfer applications. Newark is no longer accepting any applications and Camden is still accepting transfer applications. So if you applied to the right schools then you should be ok.

Transfer students have to take a one credit course to get used to Rutgers so if you don’t make friends in housing or in your other classes, then you’ll meet people in this course who are in the same boat as you. Besides, t’s not hard to meet people and make friends in such a large school.

Since housing isn’t due till July and won’t be announced till early to mid August, you still have a chance of getting in. But it is first-come first-serve. Best of Luck though! I hope everything works out.
