I am an international student who has been placed under academic probation , so i was wondering what are my options:
If my petition is denied, what do you think i should do ?
Should i do a short term course , or should i engage in some activity ?

If your grades are low, what are you doing to bring them up?
Did you receive a warning or have you been dismissed?

my grades were low and so i have been recessed for a year , i have been studying during the vacations.

Are you allowed to stay in this country if you are not enrolled in a particular school, or in any school? What are the terms of your visa?

I am still with my college ,but they have recessed me for a year. I have been issued a five year visa in my university’s name, but in the mean time , can i take up some small term courses elsewhere ?

You can certainly try to enroll at a community college.

That depends on your university. You need to ask them.

I’ve often read posts where the U in question specifies that the student may not take courses. They want the student to do something else and regroup. In your case that might present a problem, since presumably you do not have a work visa? I suppose, assuming that supporting yourself is not an issue, that you could volunteer. You might be able to take some courses in order to bolster your preparation in weak areas and simply not present them for credit. It depends on their rules. Another option, obviously, would be to go home for a while to save money. (As long as you are certain of being able to get back into the US.)

Look in the student handbook. Look at whatever materials they gave you. Ask them.
