A few questions...

  1. Is a tutoring program that includes free SAT/ACT prep classes, unlimited tutoring, and a councilor that guides you through your high school plans in order to help you get to the college you want and helps you with college apps worth it?
  2. I'm taking biology honors this year (freshman), and don't plan on taking AP bio, but my councilor recommended I take the SAT II on biology at the end of this year. Is this feasible? Can I take it without having taken AP bio, or is it too hard?
  3. When should I start prepping for the ACT and SAT and how should I do it? When should I start taking it?

I started prepping for the SAT winter break this year, after I got my PSAT results back (I’m a sophomore). I also took the SAT Bio E after H. Biology freshman year (I had a really bad teacher, too) and scored a 770. Just make sure you go through prep books (which you’d probably do anyhow).

Thanks! What are you doing to prepare?

I’m using Barron’s and the College Board’s prep books and mainly taking practice tests (although I suppose I should read the books too). Pinpoint your weakest areas and work on them (for example, for me, it’s the analysis portion of the CR section).
