Will a 1300 SAT (700M, 600CR) do the trick for admission to Stern? Other stats are 3.2GPA (advanced/AP classes); president of language club; varsity athletic team; a few other clubs and a little volunteering; work in law firm this summer.

How much easier is it to get in if I apply ED rather than RD?

Do they REALLY not factor in the Writing portion of the SAT?

Thanks very much for any and all responses!

No

The acceptance rate is slightly higher for ED than RD, but that doesn't mean someone who isn't qualified to get in RD would get in ED>

They don't place much emphasis on it, but they do see your score.

Wow, well, thanks for the response. I guess it's no use bothering to apply then with the 1300 SAT.

Thanks for your thoughts.

^ Well, never say never, right? It's just that the average SAT Score for CAS is about a 1340, and it's much higher for Stern. Can't you re-take them? Your GPA is also low for Stern though, I would be more focused on that than the SATs (NYU supposedly places more emphasis on GPA than anything else).

you could try ED into CAS, then TRY REALLY HARD and get a high GPA and then do an internal transfer.

stern overall acceptance rate was 14% this year
last year's median SAT score just counting math and reading was a 1440 or a 1450
aim for at least a 1400

I didn't know they released acceptance rates for the individual schools?

Check the "accepted thread" for this year, it's your best reference. Your GPA is quite low for CAS (It looks like the rigor of your courses is strong so your weighted GPA is maybe 3.6 ish?. If the GPA was 3.5-3.7 you'd have a chance with CAS (with a more likely placement with GSP program) but Stern comperbale to applying to Georgetown or Amhearst...seems damn competitive.

Your SAT's are ballpark for CAS, but that GPA will kill you, what's your class rank?

well about 7000 applied and they accept about 1000 and this year they accepted less because last year's class was a little big.
