I got accepted for ED and am going to go to U of I. I have a few questions though.

When will I find out about Honors College and scholarships? I have gotten one scholarship but I am hoping to get quite a bit more and into the Honors program.

If anyone has heard for these things let me know what they were if you are in state.

Also does accepting my admission right now help my chances to get scholarships or does waiting longer help so they try to lure you in?

I’m pretty sure that you are automatically accepted into the honors program if you have an ACT score of 33 or higher.

I’ve heard about one scholarship i’ve received to U of I, but i know each department has a huge list of scholarships available so i’m guessing there are still more to come. I’d guess March? maybe?

ok so what about those of us who have a 31 ACT when will we hear march?

Also would accepting now making me in a better position for scholarship or waiting to see if they’ll throw me more money. I’ll accept no matter what but I want to get as much money as I can.

I’m also in the same boat. My parents stupidly want me to apply to more colleges but I’m basically set on UoI. I want to accept right now, regardless of whether or not they’ll consider me more for scholarships and stuff.

hello. this is my 1st time starting college at GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY and i have to write a five sentence or more autobiography about myself and i’m kind of nervous b/c i want to make sure it right. this is also my 1st time on the forum, anyway i really need to know how to start my autobiography. can you please help me b/c i’v tried to google some examples but they aren’t really telling me what i need to know or maybe i’m not understanding them.

Ah okay. I haven’t been notified about any scholarships yet… And judging from the ones you got, are they just handing out the scholarships to minorities first?

^Of all the threads to post to you chose this one?

I’m not sure in what order they are doing but yes those are for minorities but also I have heard under represented groups can be other things too. In total it’s 7,000 for me. Not a ton but it helps.

This might help…I’m currently at U of I in the class of 2011. When I applied, I got into the College of Engineering in December. I accepted right away since it was the only school that I applied to. Later in the spring, I received a $2,000 merit scholarship along with an invitation to the Campus Honors Program. Accepting looks to have no influence on scholarship offerings, so don’t be afraid to make things official, because I thought the exact same thing that I should wait and let them want me, but it didn’t matter.

CHP is great! Lots of awesome opportunities, really nice people (the majority are legitimately not nerdy,) and a nice honor since CHP is the most selective honors program on campus.

As for scholarships, if you’re in-state, you get a one time $500 scholarship. I think its split into $250/semester for the first year. If you’re out of state, I believe you get a really nice deal which is in-state tuition for either 2 years or 4 years. I can’t remember.

does the business school give out good scholarships?

Also is it hard to major in accounting and finance and finish in 3.5-4 years? I have seen on the U of I blogs 2 of the people have the major and one even has a minor
