I recently got accepted to Drexel with 50% scholarship/aid, and I'm extremely tempted. I do have a few questions though. I've heard that the off-campus crime rate is extremely high. Is this true? Secondly, I want to work for an investment bank after graduation. What are placements like at Drexel?

Yeah, the farther off-campus you get the more dangerous it gets, starting a couple blocks in each direction. Of course you’re perfectly safe on campus.

blue, just about any urban campus has a high off-campus crime rate. The Drexel/Penn area (University City) is no exception. However, thousands of students live at these schools safely.

The general advice is: be aware of your surroundings (put away the cell phone and the Ipod), don’t walk alone after dark, and try to stay near campus. Both campuses have excellent security.

Oh, and lock your bike!

Ah I see. So the rumors were true! Anyway, any answers to my second question?

Additionally, how would the Drexel Business and Engineering program compare with a similar program (Dual degree, econ + engineering) at U Minnesota?

blue_box, there’s a thread about the B&E program here:

take a look and read through it, and feel free to post on that thread if you have any specific questions related to the major. it’s the major i’m in and I can answer any other questions you have.
