Warning: I'm a bit of a rambler.

So, for this trimester I'm going to be getting a B in Algebra II/Trig, thanks in part to the worst teacher I've ever had and also a slight case of sophomoritis. My GPA will be 3.9 cumulative - I also got B's in Honors Cell Bio and Biotechnology. Next year (junior year) though, I have a pretty balanced courseload, so I'm hoping I'll have a 4.0 for the year.

Anyway, I know it's still early, but I'm interested in learning of my chances at a few schools at this point. I know I'm no Ivy Material, but I'm curious of my chances at UW, UPS, Occidental, NYU (My reach, I know that =p), and Syracuse. Thanks!

Location: Oregon
GPA: 3.9 Unweighted
No SAT score, sorry. My PSAT was taken before I had math this year, so it's only mediocre.
Rank: Probably around 40 or so out of 600+ (GPAs are still inflated; it's only sophomore year), so roughly top 7%! Though, my school is not particularly competitive.
Freshman Year GPA: 4.0
Sophomore Year: 3.8 (One B per trimester; we only have five classes at a time)
Junior Year Projected Schedule: H Govt/Politics; H Economics; H World Lit; Newspaper; H Pre Calc; H Psychology; H Chemistry; H Spanish IV; Health 2)
Senior Year Projected Schedule: AP Calc; AP English; APUSH(!); Newspaper; Special Project: H Spanish V (If possible)

While I'm on the topic of senior year AP classes, which would be better: AP Calc or Stats? Just wondering; I've heard good and bad about both, though not a lot about Stats. It's generally a smaller class, but I thought colleges liked Calc more.

ECs: Newspaper editor all four years (Copy Editor 9th, Tech Editor 10th/11th, most likely Editor-in-Chief 12th). Very, very few people (one or two every five years or so) do this, and even fewer are any kind of editor freshman year. Since I've started, I've dedicated well over 200 hours to the publication.

I'm reapplying to NHS next year...I made the mistake of mentioning condoms in my application. Whoops. =p
Also next year, I'm joining cross country and track, and considering joining a few clubs I haven't yet (GSA, Literary Magazine editor, Mock Trial, JSA). How bad is it that I'm just starting several of these junior year?

Hobbies
I've been playing alto sax for nearly five years, was 2nd chair in middle school band, but quit to pursue other academic interests. I only play for leisure now.
I have an unhealthy obsession with trampolines.
I have pretty extensive knowledge of computers, and have worked especially in-depth with them for the past couple years.
I'm a crazy reader.

Also, what can I do to improve my chances at these schools, especially Oxy?

Thank you much people. Most of you are absolutely crazy - the right people to ask about these things.
