<p>My greatest fear though, is that my story for option five will come up with other people. I know that it's not likely at all, yet at the very same time it is very likely. Such a paradox. But perhaps by thinking away from cookie-cutter, one joins the other side of the wall, as in the non-cookie cutter essays that all come out the same because they are just that. I am awfully tired, perhaps I'm not making sense, but I feel that at times like these I make the most sense than any other time, but only to myself.</p>

<p>I think I wrote this before, but I think the trick to any good essay (whether it be a UChicago essay or not) is to tap into your inner voice and to maintain that voice throughout the essay. Write about something that excites you and interests you. I have made it my pet project to read over college essays, and essays that are about something that interests the writer are much, much more successful at both Chicago and highly selective common app schools. The essays that tend to be the least successful are the ones that provide a narrative to the resume.</p>
