I've applied for Mays and everything, with a backup in the Econ Dept. I have like 40 or so hours that transfer with a high 3.8 or low 3.9 GPA. Anybody know my chances? Plus, when do you think the decisions will come, I've heard as late as June? And lastly, can transfers be wait listed? Thanks again.

Your stats certainly sound good, so I would say that you have a good chance, for sure. Have you completed most of the classes on the degree track for your intended major, though? Either way, i’m sure you will still make it into A&M; you will just have to transfer into Mays a little later if they initially deny you.

My decision came about a week ago, and I sent my stuff in pretty late, so you really should not have to wait until June to get a response. I’m not sure about the waitlisting thing, but for me, I WILL have to wait until June to get another response, since they need my spring grades.

I started off in music, but the hours that do transfer are both English Comp 1 & 2, History 1 & 2, Gov’t 1 & 2, Econ 1 & 2, Principles of Acct 1 & 2, Business Math 1 & 2 and I think that is it. I haven’t had the chance to take some MIS class or a Business Law class, yet. Thanks for the reply…

I’m still in high school, but if it makes you feel any better, the admissions counselor I keep in touch with says that anyone with anything near a perfect 4.0 can transfer to A&M pretty easily, ALMOST automatically. The only exception is the business program…BUT if you have a backup, I think you should be good.

wow, I am glad to hear that anyone close to 4.0 can transfer to A&M easily :). Anyway, do we need two English Composition classes or only One? I read in the degree track that we just need only 1 english composition class. Could anyone correct me?

I’m pretty sure you need two Comps at A&M. I’ve been looking mainly at Business and Econ degree tracks though. But, yeah, both require them. UT-Austin only requires 1 Comp, that was the only place I’ve seen that. Sorry…

Are you sure? This is where I got the information:
[Degree Tracks](http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/gettingin/degreeTracks/detail.aspx)

and I even here http://mays.tamu.edu/documents/public/159/
that propose the track for Finance major. All I saw is one English composition class AND 2 other business related writing classes. Could anyone clear this for us?

ah, btw derekallen2009 did you get accepted? just curious. Hope the best for U anw :)

Hey, I just asked my good friend over there(he’s a finance major at a&m) about english classes. He said he only took one semester of comp, for sure. But he also told me that he has to take a business writing class, though. So only one semester of comp, just like it says in degree track E.

nhl1508, you’re right. It’s been awhile since I looked exactly. But I forgot I’m going to transfer Comp. 2 for the credit in Humanities. At least that’s the impression I get from the course catalog. I haven’t found out if I’ve been admitted yet. AIS is still on Step 3. I just found out my gf is getting a lot of financial aid from TAMU too. That means the pressure is on now to get accepted. When I talked to the guy at the prospective center, he said only 75 transfers get accepted into business every year. I never thought I would have a problem getting into a good school with almost a 4.0. I should have went when I graduated high school, I nabbed the last spot for Top 10%. We live and we learn though, right?

yeah, you make the point. We live and we learn! I was in a much worse situation than you. Actually I have forgone 2 years in the best engineering school in my home country, to come here and study Business. I really satisfy with my choice though. You guys all know the US has one of the best (I would say the best) educations all around the world.

And derekallen2009 you will be fine. You will get in I bet. Not all people get 3.9 and 4.0 even in Community college. I am actually not really afraid about getting into A&M next year, since until now I still keep my 4.0 after more than a year in the US. The hardest class for me seem to be English composition, and I got thru it with an A already. However, the out of state tuition of A&M is a little too much for me, so I really wanna get >= 1000 transfer scholarship that can give me in state tuition. Do you guys know anything about the School of Management of UT Dallas? Cuz if I get nothing from A&M, I might need to go to the UT Dallas SOM, since I am pretty sure I will get in there with a scholarship that waive my out of state tuition. I know UTD SOM can’t compare to Mays, but is that a good business school anyway?

You can’t pick econ as a second choice major. It has to be one or the other.

If you have over a 3.8 with ALL of the track classes completed except for MGMT 211, you might be competitive.
