I'm currently a 2nd year Zoology major at UCSB and I am looking to transfer to UCLA so that I can major in Anthropology and earn a BS (UCSB only offers a BA in Anthro).

I have a few questions that I was hoping someone could help me with...

1) I remember when I applied to the UC's as a freshman, a representative told us not to specify any special interest for a particular UC within the personal statement, as every university admissions reads the same essay. However, now that I am writing the personal statement for my transfer, and I am only applying to UCLA, is it ok to specify UCLA in my statement? I feel it is necessary for me to explain why I feel UCLA is a better fit for me, major wise, than UCSB.

2) Does anyone happen to know how UCLA feels about alternate majors? The application gives you the opportunity to put an alternate major, but mine would be Ecology, Evolution and Biology which I've heard has very limited space and is hard to transfer to, so perhaps I shouldn't even put that and just stick with Anthro BS??

Thanks!
