Hello all,

I plan on applying to the University of Michigan (LSA) for the Summer 2012 semester (or fall) which leads me to my first question...is there an advantage in terms of admission? I did want to knock a few classes out of the way during the summer so that my fall schedule would be a little less demanding.

Also, for the common app essay of "why transfer? 250 words minimum" I know this is supposed to be a general essay, but if Michigan was the only school I was applying to, could I tailor this essay for Michigan? Would the admissions office care, or do they know that it is supposed to be a general essay?

I will be applying as a junior, but this would be my third school. I went to UMass for my freshman year, and now I'm at the University of Miami, and I'm applying to Michigan for my Junior and Senior years. I don't see how I can adequately express my reasons for doing this in the three required essays, but I could write something about it in the "additional information" section of the commonapp How bad, if it all, would that look to admissions?

For what it's worth, my cumulative GPA is a 3.76 w/ 30 credits. (3.67 first semester and 3.84 second semester). The University of Miami is a much more challenging school compared to UMass, but I do not see my GPA this semester falling below a 3.6. Would this drop look bad to admissions? (with that 3.6, my cumulative GPA would be a 3.7 at 46 credits). This GPA is with a pretty demanding schedule as well (calc I and II, bio, chem, calc-based physics, organic chemistry being the hardest classes) I know the average GPA of transfers is a 3.5, but I'm sure it has to be higher for LSA.

Sorry for all the questions, and I appreciate anyone's input.

P.S. I would appreciate it if people didn't about the whole going to three schools in three years as I have my reasons, starting with a bad high school experience. I just wanted to get an idea how much it would affect my chances. I am a resident of Michigan if that matters of all. Once again I thank anyone for their input.
