My Stats aren't that great, but fighting is a pretty big theme in my application. You think that "different" type of hobby would attract attention? Make me a different type of candidate?

Intimidation is a formidable hook.

Don't be too modest, those are solid stats and a GREAT hook. Now all that's left is to write a killer essay...
Seriously though, I usually avoid these chances threads but you have pretty excellent passion for your extremely time-consuming sport, measured success in it, and very solid academics to boot. I think you have a great chance as long as your recs and interview are good and your essay is great.

Thanks... I thought my Tae Kwon Do and Mixed Martial Arts were a real different twist. And I don't know too many Brasilian/Iranian --- or straight up Brasilian people getting into Harvard. My SAT's are weak (granted) but I just though this would do it for me. I got a likely from Cornell, just waiting for some kind of notification anxiously from Harvard :)

Plus-- Harvard has such amazing financial aid, and I haven't heard such things from Cornell =/

can you do me a favor and make sure to post on this thread whether you get in or not (I think it'll probably be good news). I don't like to mine through the official 'results' thread when I only really even bothered to look at one or two

oooo cooool. definitely unique

and yes definitely say if you got in.

This comment isn't ridiculously relevant... but I go to Coral Springs :D. NIce to see a local around here. I'm sure you'll get in though. You've got so much going for you- your race, your gender, your grades, your fighting... :D

Thank you so much for your nice comments. I really appreciate you guys reading my thread. I will post the results. Although I wish I were as optimistic as you guys are. There are many people who post for people to chance them that have amazing Extracurriculars and Grades and SAT scores. The only thing I see in my is a neat theme. Don't think thats enough. However its always nice to receive feedback from wonderful people like you. Thank You

For those of you interested in what happened to me. I got flat out rejected. I'm quite sad :( Thank God I did get accepted to Cornell University. Thats where I'll be. I'll join the Tae Kwon Do team and knock out Yale and Harvard students. :) Just kidding.

Thank you all for your support and your advice. I hope you guys are successful in your future endeavors

This is a fight you are going to lose. Please give in.

:) You've never seen me fight ;)

Yale and Harvard!!! I hope you read this, cause Cornell will destroy you this year in Tae Kwon Do and Mixed Martial Arts (if that exists in Ivy League)

:)
