so a friend of mine is considering a career in medicine, and was considering a surgeon position until recently when she got into the medical drama HOUSE MD. Does anyone know if there's a real position like that in a real hospital? not like getting paid for like 3 patients a month, but like, diagnostics only?

Nope. The show even points that out late in the first season.

blah, she never mentioned that to me. so there's nothing like a diagnostic person? other than shadowing which provides great experience, she's really big on the medical shows. which in your opinion is the best one that really shows how medicine is really like? or environment of a hospital

None of them are remotely accurate. Scrubs is by far the best of them, with ER a medium second. Frankly, you'd learn more accurate medicine from Lost or Heroes than you would from Grey's or House.

All physicians make diagnoses.

The best show was St. Elsewhere( and probably most accurate) may that show rest in piece.

The closest related field to the type of medicine that happens on House is probably pathology.
