Sorry if this seems like a very simple question, but I couldn't really find it anywhere.

I am an out of state applicant, interested in UC Berkeley. How important is it that I have completed all the "a-g" coursework? For in-state applicants, it guarentees you a spot at a UC school, but for out of state, a spot is not guarenteed. Thus, is it really necessary to have done all of the "a-g" courses to be accepted?

I only ask because I did not decide to apply to UC Berkeley until a month ago and the only requirement I have not completed is the year of visual and performing arts. Is this going to be looked down upon when reading my application?

If it helps at all, I took piano lessons for 8 years and participating in some competitions. Would including that possibly nullify the need for the arts requirement? And where could I include that in my application, as the only possible place seems to be part 3 of the personal statement (additional comments).

Since I am an out of state applicant (from NJ), UC doesn't even approve any of my school's courses for their "a-g" application. In my application, I added the courses where they would fall, if they were UC approved (Part 4: Academic History). Is this the right place to put them, even though they're not officially UC approved, as theres not enough space anywhere else?

Sorry for the long, rambling post. I've had a lot of questions recently when filling out this application.

Thanks to those who read and post your help!
