a-g reqs?

so berkeley is my dream school and has been for about 2 years and i cannot imagine myself anywhere else for the next 4 years of my life. i was wondering though, how exactly does one tell if courses are a-g approved (specifically the fine arts one, i'm set on everything else)? i am scheduled to take two classes (both 1 semester each, adding up to 1 credit total) that are listed in the fine arts section of my school's course selection book. how do i know if they are a-g approved?

for reference, they are Piano Lab and Film & Society Honors

I got into Berkeley 2014 this year, and I’ll admit that I’ve never taken anything remotely related to art as a high school class, though I did take outside piano lessons. So perhaps it’s just an in-state requirement since they can’t assume that high schools across the nation have the same curricula? I’m not sure, but maybe you should contact the school about this. I tried to, and I still don’t understand exactly how A-G works.

Same as insomniac, no idea what A-G is but I filled in all the courses I took, and was alright.

You can see the a-g requirements at http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/subject_reqs.html</a></p>

There is a detailed narrative of the a-g requirements for the counselors at [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/freshman/advising/admission/agr.html) which includes a list of acceptable and unacceptable courses for the VPA requirement.

You also have the option to satisfy the requirement using other means (passing SAT Subject tests or AP exams, taking college courses, etc.). For the different options available, see [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/freshman/advising/admission/subjectr.html)

wow now that is about the best news i’ve heard in a long time! so happy, i would have had to drop those for music theory 1 & 2 probably and dont think i would have been able to make it through the year hahah. an off-topic question in regards to the thread, but how hard exactly would it be for an OOSer to get in?

OOS admit rates are expected to increase two- to three-folds this year due to the budget crisis. There is no telling what will happen next year or the year after that.
