I’m currently a senior in high school right now and sadly I do not meet the A-G requirements. On my transcript I have one D for algebra 2 for the first semester due to my father dying. During the second semester I raised it up and got a C. I have not failed any other classes and my GPA is over 3.0 and I have all credits I need to be a senior. I have done many extra curricular activities. Please help me, i’m stressing continuously about it.
Will I be able to go to an UC?
Will i be able to walk across stage and get my high school diploma?
According to the CSU/UC a-g requirements:
Required “a-g” courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. Courses in which grades of D/F are earned may be repeated. There is no limitation on the number of times a course can be repeated. The first instance of grade C or better will be used in the GPA calculation.
If you take a higher level of Math such as Pre-Calc, Senior year and pass with a C or better, you can validate the Algebra2 grade however, your D will be part of the UC GPA calculation.

A “D” grade will also limit the UC’s you may have a chance at an acceptance. UCR and UCM may overlook the grade but since the UC’s are so competitive, any blemish on your application will hurt your chances. What are your Stats/UC GPA with the D included? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Regarding your HS diploma, you need to take with your GC in regards to HS requirements. Since you received a C in the class 2nd semester, you should be fine but I would confirm.
Thank you for taking time to replying to my question!
