a-g subjects and sat2

ok, so on the list it stated 2 years of languages, however ive being told that if you take one year of language and sat2, you dont need the second year of language, is it true ?

anyone ???????

anybody !?!!?!

I've never heard of that, but this may be helpful:

UC Admissions

hmm,the teacher in my sat prep school says i can take 1 year of language and sat2 instead of 2 full years. =/ ...

Don't rely on some teacher's advice. Only too often students get the wrong advice and end up ineligible for UC (sometimes this happens with counselors, even). You might email them about it if you can't find a definitive answer.

ok so i found this

Validation of language other than English: Both the UC & CSU can validate the requirement for two years of language other than English with a (one semester), UC transferable college course in that language. The college course must show that the first semester of college study is equivalent to two years of high school study. Higher levels of either high school or college level language other than English courses can also validate lower levels of the same language courses. Students may also satisfy this requirement through examination with AP or SAT Subject tests:

AP Exam scores of 3, 4 or 5 on the Language or Literature Exams in:

Chinese
French
German
Italian
Latin
Japanese
Spanish
SAT Subject Exams:

Chinese With Listening - 520
French/French With listening - 540
German/German With Listening - 510
Modern Hebrew - 470
Italian - 520
Japanese With Listening - 510
Korean With Listening - 500
Latin - 530
Spanish/Spanish With Listening - 520

So that'll work. Which UCs are you aiming for?

ucr,ucd,uci,ucsd,ucsb,ucsc

UCSD might be harder to get into if you're trying to opt out of requirements by examination. The same might be said of mid-tier UCs, though to a lesser extent.

oh, hmm somehow there's a box sayiong " preliminary tally shows you need the following additional yearlong courses to fulfill the "a-g" subject requirements: "

i updated my sat2 scores and everything and this still shows up, do you know why =/ ??

Hmm, probably because that section isn't 'communicating' with the subject test section. I'd recommend emailing UC about it. They might just tell you to ignore it, since you have the score entered.

ok, thanks alot
