i see pplz with a gazillion clubs and ecs and im wondering if you really need that many.
ive been considering on one important factor of my ec for hs which is marching band. i am also president of band, (2nd yr) 10th grade i was secretary for band.
im really dedicated for music so ive always been since 6th grade :)

& im also considering 200 hours of community service at the library because i love to read and library is all around a great place fr studying (yeayea, call me a nerd haha)

but yea. are all those clubs really necessary?
i thought if ur a leader in a certain club or ec makes you look more dedicated.

help?

From what I've heard and read so far, colleges don't want the guy/girl who is a member of "a gazillion clubs". They went someone who is very deep into and dedicated to a few

i was only in two clubs throughout high school and i still have achieved so much this year.

but i have leadership position. i heard that looks good
=]

you don't need a gazillion clubs.

a leadership and dedication to 1 or 2 clubs are enough.

I was president of 7 major clubs throughout my high school years, and most of those concurrently. I also had a rather weighty number of community service hours, and various awards for speeches, DECA, scholarships, etc.

However, I doubt those really helped all that much in getting me college acceptances. I can contrast colleges where I emphasized passion over a "gazillion clubs" in getting acceptances versus not getting acceptances or getting acceptances with honors vs. not.
What I found as a trend in that contrast is that what helped was talking in-depth about the certain clubs that I was most passionate about and especially the one I founded myself.

If you just have one, that's fine. Just make sure you really love that one.

I served on three clubs and was on the exec board of each. Also was a class officer this past year. Would NOT recomend it. Practically killed me. And if you don't like a club don't bother sticking with it. I really hated student council yet I didn't drop it. Could have used that time so much more productively doing something else. Just stick with the two that you really enjoy and that you are actually involved in.

One good hook is better then the presidency of several generic ECs.

wow. thanks guys! i really appriciate ur help! and quoting the whole "gazillion clubs" lol, its ridiculous what pplz do thats why i used the ridiculous word hehe

but yes, thank u!
