A General Chance Me + How Important Is?

Physics as well as Calculus?

First time posting ben reading CC for awhile. This is kind of like a general chance me.

I am wicked strong in subjects like History,English, Psychology. I am not as strong in math. I am ok in science. I liked Biology but hated Chemistry. I want to go to as strong a school as I can possibly get into. If I do not take Physics and Calculus will I hurt my chances? I do not doubt that I can get through these classes but I really do not want to take them. In college I plan to take the minimum required of me for Math. I plan to be prelaw with a major in Political Science or History

All my classes are either Advanced Placement or Honors. My GPA is over a 3.7 thru the middle of my junior year. I have taken two SATII tests with both scores over 750. No SAT yet - taking in March. My PSAT would equal to over 2000. I have very strong EC's and I am a standout athlete in one sport. I am thinking of going the recruiting route but not 100% sure on that for my college years. I have been speaking with some schools about my sport and I have gone to a few recruit camps. I may want to still participate but on the club level just not sure.

I am thinking I would like to apply to schools like Bowdoin, Vassar, Dartmouth, Davidson, Middlebury, Hamilton, Swarthmore, Haverford, and U-Penn.

Am I headed in the right direction? Will not taking Physics and Calculus take me off track?

“First time posting ben reading CC for awhile”

Hit post before I finished proof reading. Should be First time posting BEEN reading CC for awhile. Sorry!

Bump, bump, bump!

Calc and Physics are very important to top schools. It wont kill your chances, but I would take them, if possible.
It’s never a good idea to just drop a subject like math or science. They dont see that as passionate, they see it as 1 dimensional.

I plan to take a math and a science in my senior year. I take all academic classes. By the time I graduate from high school I will have had four years of math, four years of lab science, four years of foreign language, four years of english, four years of history etc… I just do not want to take Physics and Calculus. Will this hurt me? If I do not have Physics and Calculus will I look one dimensional?

Bio, chem and physics are the three lab sciences colleges expect to see. I would definitely take physics if I were you. You don’t have to take AP if you don’t want to, honors would be fine.

As for Calc…well, I didn’t take Calc and I went to a top-50 school. You will need 4 years of math, as you know. What is your fourth year going to be?
