A girl from Delhi needs help

rt_08 … according to my reasearch the top teir privates … the Ivies especially followed by Duke , JHU , Harvey mudd , Northwestern , and others actually follow the holistic application review . SO EC’s + grades combo can/will get u a very good aid package.

A senior of mine who had a 88% in boards and a 75% in his 11th and a 70% in his grade 12 mid-term exams got into princeton university with an amazing aid package (almost more than half of his overall fees was reduced ) … his SATs were in the early 2000’s (both 1 and 2) … but he was the school basketball team’ captain and had reached the CBSE national’s finals for 5 years consecutively with amazing individual awards + he was a post holder. So an overall achievement is recognised . (If you don’t believe me … i will give u his Princeton email id :)) .

Best of Luck rt_08

theek hain yaar chill…
that’s what i am concerned about…Even my scores are nt that good so i am totally concerned about my extra cirriculars…

and about the example which you were giving I really admire that guy…but then also consider the fact that US admissions(in top-tier elite) universities is a crapshoot…and you certainly need to be lucky to gt in one of those…

Your scores are not that good? Arrey! :P

Arrey…You now that …They are nt top class like yours…

OK lets cum to the point’…Tetris could you tell me some good universities that look mostly in extra cirriculars…

All the Ivies and other top-notch schools (like Duke, JHU and such) look at your extracurriculars a lot. I mean, I guess they play an important role once they know you’re cut out for the academics.

No I mean those colleges that look mainly on extracurriculars and less on academics…

Hmmm, in that way, it’s definitely some LACs. They’re more likely to take people with sub-par academics if they like the rest of the package. I think Reed would be great for you - you’re a very sciencey guy, and they love science out there!

UChicago, if you can rock their essays as well.

If you are serious about studying in America this fall, I recommend lowering your standards and planning to achieve well at a tier 3 school, then transfer out your junior year. UC Riverside and UC Merced are out because they require SAT II’s. SLO is harder to get into than some of the UC’s. I agree with an earlier post about targeting the lower-end CSU’s. Also, some of the LAC’s who need money may take you. If you like the idea of California, consider Whittier. They like international students and you could probably get in. They have a special engineering program, whereby you complete either 2 or 3 years at Whittier, then transfer directly into the engineering program at either UC Santa Cruz or USC, both very good schools. It would give you the chance your looking for to prove yourself. Good luck.

but tetris…Uchicago does’nt give aid

and plz I wanna more about such colleges

I’m sure they give aid to at least a few students?

Why don’t you look at colleges like St. Olaf, Oberlin and Kalamazoo?

@powayparent :- I would be getting a Bachelor of science degree at Whittier which i am not looking for , do you have any suggestions for Mechanical or electrical engineering ?

TY

…thnks tetris but are these colleges good in science too…

@ rt - what is your major ?

also are you a prestige whore like me ?

Priyanka, look at this link and you’ll see what I mean by the 3-2 program. Other colleges have them too: [3-2 Engineering Program](http://www.whittier.edu/Academics/3-2EngineeringProgram/)

Also, use this link: [College Search - Find colleges and universities by major, location, type, more.](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)
It provides a detailed college search, in which you can specify your major and plug in your SAT scores and GPA as well as the fact that you’re international. It will give you a list of colleges that meet your criteria.

@rt: Yes they are, that’s why I mentioned them.

ya I am …but then I also take a glimpse at other factors too…
