A girl from my school has already gotten her acceptance letter. She was a recruited swimmer which has I’m sure has something to do with it… but still… ahhh… that so does not bode well for me – we only had one person accepted last year. Has anyone else heard from Penn?? Do they send results earlier if you apply earlier??

last year, a girl from a nearby school was recruited for tennis, got into wharton around this time.

yeh, a girl from my school already got in too, for lacrosse.

I know someone who just heard - she's on the crew team. I don't think anyone else but recruits hear this early.

i havent heard yet, im a recruit also, but my scores i just rushed the other day so i wont hear til later

i assume this is all for sports... anyway congrats to them

Are they getting likely letters or regular acceptance packages? I know a number of recruits get likely letters, but I thought the "official" acceptances all went out at the same time.

that's what i thought^ the ivies have an agreement to release at the same time, which is why it confused me when the p-ton kids said on the 10th...

There's no way they are getting official acceptances now. They are probably getting likely letters or perhaps the coaches are writing something. Like the DP said, admissions committee doesn't start until the 28th, and that includes athletes. At least I hope so. Otherwise that kind of stinks.

i think he means they signed a letter of intent to attend after getting a likely letter

im jealous!

You don't sign letters of intent for the Ivies. No money is involved (supposedly).

Hi

Since you all are talking about other people you heard about who have "gotten In to Penn" I thought I should speak up. I got a likely letter which says congrats on my grades/scores and that the admissions committee has done a preliminary review and has said I am likely to get in, and that of all the kids who have gotten a likely letter in the past 7 years, 98% have gotten in.

I am satisfied with that. I am sure I am in, but I have not gotten an official letter and I am sure no one else has gotten anything more than the letter I have. Which I carry around with me daily!

Congratulations, ipod145!

merci collegecd. I am very relieved.

yo ipod, which sport?

ya ipod, what're you recruited for?

The coach told me not to tell people until the real acceptances come out in December. I can't believe people are actually bragging about getting in because of their sport. It makes athletes look bad.

no worries there... u guys have worked very hard to be eligible as 'recruits' ya? that's what you have worked for!

Hm, so about what percent of the accepted students are recruits? If you are a recruit, is it mandatory to play the sport all 4 years?
