A girl in engineering finding a boyfriend in engineering?

What is it like for a girl in engineering or computer science trying to find a boyfriend that is also in engineering or computer science? Is it easy... hard.... or are girls just ignored?

easy
given the lack of you in engineering

Most Math and Physics and Engineering classes is like <20 percent girls… And nno we do not ignore girls. youll just be surrounded by alot of males. male dominate major

Is this a chance thread for your chances of finding a boyfriend?

Needless to say, one of my all-time favorite CC posts.

Super easy IF you like engineering-type boys. And there are some nice ones out there. As another poster said, you will be surrounded by boys. My D has been active in Robotics and math activities, and went to an engineering camp last summer. It was about 90% boys. She is the only girl in build/design on her Robotics team. If she wanted a boyfriend, she would have one, easily. She plans to major in physics in college, also a male-heavy major.

My math major daughter dates an EE major. She met him freshman year and they will both graduate in April.

Engineering men are just as in need of a boyfriend as non-engineering men. They just don’t spend as much time dating/womanizing and are much less experienced and much more circumspect/reserved/careful. If they do get a girlfriend, they are more reliable and less fastidious than other men.

That said, if you want a typical engineering guy, it would be beyond easy. If you want a sauve, funny, fashionable Enrico Iglasias who will always make you jealous and play hard-to-get in order to play hot potato with your emotions, then look somewhere else on campus.

LOL! 10 char

This thread is fantastic

Boyfriend in Engineering - Safety

TheKongo, I wish we could still give reputation points. I would give you some! :D

lol its funny you put this in the ‘what are my chances’ section.

but considering women in the engineering field are a minority, it won’t be very hard at all. you’ll have a really wide variety to choose from!

There’s an old joke about women in engineering finding men to date:
“The odds are good, but the goods are odd.”

I was a female engineering major. For the most part, the boys treated me as one of the guys. I dated one engineering student when I was a senior. He was tall, good-looking, and wealthy! Not a great student, but who cared! I knew I wouldn’t marry him, but it was fun.

Then I started grad school. Second semester, the new students walked into one of my classes, and I remember thinking, “Huh, not much of a crop this semester.” One of the guys was wearing thick, black-framed glasses, along with a dorky western shirt and old jeans. Lo and behold, though, he was fun to talk to and cleaned up well. Three months later, he asked me to marry him. We got married a year later, and we’ll celebrate our 27th anniversary this year. :)

^ such a wonderful story :’)

Best chance thread

This thread just made my evening. The odds are in your favor. I agree with previous posters, its a safety ;).
