A good art school that doesn't seem to suck you dry of money?

Hello! I'm a recent high school graduate of 2014 and have been struggling to find an art school that might be for me. I was looking to go to RMCAD (Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design), but found out it was bought off by Full Sail and hasn't been the same since (when they didn't ask for my portfolio, something was up). I know schools are not cheap, but every time I find a decent tuition school the reviews make me run off in fear. I was thinking of SVA ( but even looking at the enrollment fee made me sweat in dismay). If it's ok, I would like to know what you recommend :)

In Louisiana there isn't a dedicated art school and my GPA or ACT aren't exactly the highest.

I want to study 3D animation or modeling. (Though preferably, something that can contribute to game art).
If online classes or campus is better over the other, I would like to know.
I don't really mind the, I guess partying, I rather it has strong work ethnic or friendly people.
If it's safe enough or has ok dorms that's a +

I know school is perfect, but someone that can agonize over the simplest of things, I just don't want to mess up

I would tend to stray away from mainstream art colleges, have you looked into Cooper Union or Cornell? I would recommend maybe Carnegie Mellon or RISD but those schools are so much money- Iv only heard of one story of somebody getting a full ride to RISD, and the next highest was a 38k scholarship. Cooper Unions art program has like a 5% acceptance rate- though it now costs money (like 20k a year, though it may change cause theirs alot of commotion over their change in tuition fees). Cornell’s art program( AAP School) is really expensive but depending on ur financial situation they will be very generous(as long as you get in!). Its not that uncommon for people to get 45-50k scholarships off of need based situations for Cornell. Wherever you choose to go, i would just recommend straying away from the big commercialized art schools.
