A Good College For Me?

Hi guys! I'm a junior now, so I'm starting to think about colleges, and I was hoping I could get some of your input! I'm looking for a college either in Illinois or east and above North Carolina; I'm also looking at some schools in California. I'm really interested in government, political science, and international affairs, so I would definitely like a college that was strong in those areas. I'm not particular at all about size, but I would like it to be located in at least an urban or suburban environment. Although picturesque, green campuses are beautiful, I'm not sure I could live in one! We'll also pretend that cost doesn't make a difference, at least for now.

A little bit about myself, so you guys can get an idea of where I could get in: I have around a 4.4 weighted now, 4.0 unweighted, valedictorian. I haven't gotten my SAT scores back yet, but I got a 221 on the PSAT last year, and a 32 on the ACT in 7th grade. I've taken 6 APs, and I got 5s on all of them. Thank you so much in advance for any help!

Georgetown in Washington D.C. should be high on your list. Lovely campus, great program and the location is obvious for IR and Poly Sci majors. George Washington University, an urban school in DC, is also a great, and slightly less competitive option.

If I’m correctly assuming from your name that you’re female, you should look into Smith. Also American and maybe Johns Hopkins.

With your scores I would think you will probably be a National Merit Finalist. Go to the financial aid forum and pull up Keilexandra’s thread on schools with scholarships for NMFs. Many good choices in there.

Haverford, Swarthmore Bryn Mawr Brandeis Tufts Georgetown Penn

Boston University, Syracuse and University of Rochester.

Holy Cross and Tufts both very good Boston area schools.
