A grade 'D' for CSU (HELP PLEASE!)

hello so nervous right now but what happened if u get a D? I got a D in bio freshman but does that count as an elective or A-G course? i also took Physics and chemistry for sciences

please help

You don’t need the Bio grade for your science requirement so as long as you have C’s or better in your elective courses, you’ll meet the A-G requirements. However, that D could hurt your chances of getting in if you applied to one of the impacted CSUs.

particulary csulb, they gonna send me a letter and so nervous because of that D.

also hypothetically if i took a AP calss(eg us history) and a got a D, will they consider that a C?

I also do not see it as a problem, if you received a C or better in your required A-G classes including electives you are fine.

Chem and Physics fulfill the Science requirement.

If you have a passing grade in all other classes including electives it will not count as anything.

AP D grades do not count. It will not get raised to a C

Relax

Your D in the AP class won’t count as a C for requirement purposes. It might for your GPA.

CSULB is a competitive enough school that all your grades might count towards an admission decision.

My son had a D in Honors World History. In order to satisfy his history requirement, he took the SAT subject test and got a high enough score for it to count. That helped him get into some CSUs but he didn’t apply to Long Beach so I don’t know what would have happened there.

oh grats to ur S
im still nervous i rather wait for the mail than call.

Your D in freshmen biology shouldn’t have that much bearing in their decision other than it just hurting your overall GPA. As far as your AP grade, it will still be listed as a D. It’ll be considered a C though in GPA calculations. I hope this D isn’t one you expect to get this senior year.

I think you should call in and speak with an admissions agent as I think they require one year of biology and one year of physical, i.e. two years of lab science. If they do require bio, ask them if you could make it up at a community college.

My son received a D his senior year in second semester AP Cal. This was not part of the required pattern, but they did tell him that he may get deferred if it dropped his GPA too low. We interpreted the “too low” as below the eligibility index. Luckily, it barely budged his GPA. It definitely wasn’t worth the stress though - from June thru July he wondered if he’d receive the notification. Long story short…don’t bomb any mid-terms or finals and do everything you can to bring any borderline grades up to a C-.
