I went to Connecticut College. I applied when it was still a top 25 liberal arts college and it has continuously plummeted i all rankings. The school insists it doesn't care, but you should. Conn College is a small school; its not well known even in New England--it's essential home. If you are applying for a job anywhere and the people do not recognize the name of your college one of the first things they do is check what its reputation is and where it is ranked. Thankfully I went to graduate school at a very reputable place before Conn completely plummeted off the map, so it's an after thought in all conversations. However, where I work now in California, whenever I mention it people wonder if its a junior college or community college I went to before "really going to school" (which is a typical system out here, where it's very tough to get into the UCs so a lot of kids are now putting off college for a year or two). My time there was wonderful. I made friends I still love dearly, but this school has done nothing for me in the market place but degrade my degree and the ridiculous amount of money my parents spent to send me there. I'm doing just fine, but I think at this point this place is a complete and utter waste until they get their act together. The "we don't care what the rest of the world thinks of our admissions process or rankings" attitude I'm sure attracts a particular type of student, but it does not produce jobs folks. Do not be fooled. Do not spend your money on this place. If you want to go to liberal artsy new england school and wear sweaters and stuff and can't get into an ivy league, but your parents are connected enough to find you a job upon graduation that pays well, then Conn Coll is probably for you. Otherwise, don't go here

Curious if you participated in CELS and did an internship or co-op?

“My time there was wonderful. I made friends I still love dearly” ConnCollGrad05 - one day you will understand how the importance of that statement surpasses any degree or college ranking.

ConnCollGrad05, you said NOTHING specific about anything sub-standard in any aspect of field at Connecticut College. Your trite post speaks for itself.
