On Tuesday, President Bush is coming just 10 miles from where I live at the Nissan Plant. Thats the day for the mayor elections and I'm a Junior Diplomat and will be a part of the election. Should I go see Bush? will it look good on my college application???

anybody??????

Sure, why not.

I cannot imagine how saying you met President Bush would help you get into any college...it's a good opportunity though if you're into that whole Bush sort of thing

Just remember, it will be just a very brief "meeting". And no, it won't help at all on the application. It would sound like name dropping

I think it will actually hurt you.

Ask him how to say "nuclear" if you do.

lol im gonna ask him to help me get a 2400 on the SAT......

or for the answer key to the may SAT

or a full ride to UT-Austin or UF

Why is this thread in the SAT/ACT room?

sry, i gotta spit some aggressive leftism:

okay, the only way he can "help" you get a 2400 on the SAT is have his daddy bribe the people at collegeboard. well, since he has enough money and power now, i guess he could do it himself.

its real cute to see someone with blind admiration for our nation's leader though--maybe you will get to shake his hand!!

and its real noble of you, by the way, to be so concerned with the 2400 and have so little respect for education, for standardized testing. why dont you put forth effort and study for the test instead of fantasizing about begging president bush to steal u the answer key.

Wow... Harsh...

haha...no need for that, it was just an an innocent joke. This post does annoy me though. I hate how some people think something is worthwhile only if it will help them get into college. Yea, I'm a lefty, but I understand how it would be pretty damn cool to meet the president. I don't see why that can't be enough. You shouldn't restrict yourself to doing things that will yield tangible results towards your superficial college goals. BOOYA! Haha, it sucks how everything anyone posts gets totally overanalyzed, but whatever

ok aside from my feelings about bush I just need to remind you that college admissions committees aren't stupid and that approaching everything with the mentality that you won't do anything unless it "looks good" on your app is appallingly obvious, you need to pursue passions and do what will make you grow as a person not get you into harvard. not to mention I wouldn't want to go to a school where going to a Bush rally was the make or break of my admission. Don't be a sell out, and if you are really concerned with admissions you ought to uphold your responsibilities at the school elections because dedication to a commitment is much more impressive than blindly submitting yourself to Bush junta propaganda.

ask him to write a rec. :p

haha, okay, in all seriousness, I doubt it will help anything :/

I doubt a reccomendation from bush wouldnt help a lot

How the hell could meeting Bush possibly help? What does it show about you? Why would a college care any more about a person who met Bush than a person who didn't meet Bush? It doesn't illustrate any of your personal qualities or abilities, and it's not even a significant experience! Maybe for you, but not for a college!

A college admissions committee, seeing that you met Bush, will just say, "So what? Who cares? We don't!" This will lend credence to the idea that you're just dropping names or doing stuff because it'll look good on your resume. Colleges don't want people like that. Your "will it look good on my college application???" implies to me that you are in fact one of those people.

So in short, nobody cares if you meet Bush, especially colleges. And use some common sense before posting. I would think the answer to a question like this should be obvious.

Does anyone remember the photograph of Clinton's handshake with Kennedy?

:-) It could happen.

It might be an interesting experience, but it isn't going to help you with your college application. Just being in a group meeting a Prez doesn't say anything about you except that you met a well known person.

Now if you were invited to meet Bush because of something like a program you initiated, that would be something that could impress adcoms.

If you do see him, spit on him for me please.

I've met President Bush before. It was definitely a positive experience!
