A Happy Story!

Tulane appeared very very nice before i got my rejections. With only two schools to pick from (tulane and u of miami,) i think tulane seems even MORE amazing! I was wondering, is it worth the visit? Because if i get into their music program, i'd absolutely love to come down, but i've heard mixed things. (mostly good :P.) Any trip experiences would be valuable!

Don't feel bad about being rejected from McGill--I got rejected from them last year too. They're insanely picky and don't really look at the whole applicant. I think I might even pick Tulane over them this year before I find out from McGill (which won't be til June).

Hmmmmm.......Is it worth a trip to New Orleans while the weather is lovely--warm but not hot? The flowers are blooming? Magazine Street is full of smiling people and pastry/coffee shops? Audubon Park is breezy and full of children and joggers? Tulane is blooming and restored and full of students, faculty and staff who will talk to you about whatever you need to know...I wonder whether you should go visit..hmmmmmm?

(Not being sarcastic, honest! I just think it's a no-brainer, as you can see. I'd love to hasten OUR trip down, which is scheduled for a month from now!)

I think it depends on what you are studying. UMiami always had a stellar reputation for jazz studies, and a very strong music department in general. While I don't know anything about their music program, Tulane is located in a very music friendly city, especially for jazz, so it would definitely be worth a visit if you are down to those two. Plus it's a great time of year to visit there, and the staff and students are incredibly friendly. I've been there once, son twice (he is starting this fall), and we both loved it.

Come down during JazzFest <a href="http://www.nojazzfest.com/%5B/url%5D">http://www.nojazzfest.com/</a></p>

Forget Miami. If music or food are your thing New Orleans is the only town in the wstern hemisphere for you. Well OK New York have pretty good food too but at best they tie NOLA. For music though this is as good as it gets. The bums playing on the levee are better that what I get here in Washington with a cover charge.
