A hard broken Rejectee with no chance of a future

On a positive note: Kelly, congrats on your 4 acceptances! Admissions have been particularly tough this year.

Dear BestMiler,

I hope we will hear from you soon. Many people here care how you are feeling. If you are still feeling as down as you did, please please call one of the numbers in Post #200. I really think that talking to a live person about what you're going through could help you to sort things out and start to feel a little better.

Also, think about all those very solid colleges that don't even require the SAT's. These are professional educators who don't think that a few hour multiple choice test is any way to judge a student, but look at the totality of the student's accomplishments and character. I wish you could look at yourself that way and see that the fine person you are has nothing to do with SAT numbers.

I wonder if there is a counselor at school or someone in your community you might feel comfortable talking to. It would be great if you could share some of your feelings with an understanding adult who could help you begin to feel a bit better!

comon a 1540/2400 = 1020/1600...I DID BETTER THAN THAT IN 8TH GRADE

again no offense, but the colleges u applied to would throw out your application in a second after looking at that

and yes getting into a highly competitive school makes a great deal of difference in your future career, I know from personal friends

Hey, Dr. Matrix, your bedside manner needs a lot of work. The first thing you need to work on is developing some empathy and compassion. You'll make a really lousy doctor otherwise no matter what school you go to. Good luck, you have a long way to go.

matrix- if I were you, I would be REALLY worried about your OWN future, since you obviously lack empathy and have poor character.

matrix: Are you still in 8th grade? Please drop it and get out.

ignore the 8thgrader. He'll get his just deserts

Just remember that if you give up now you would be giving in to the colleges that rejected you, so fight back by showing them what you are capable of in life. After all, we want success in life, not just in 4 year undergraduate university. Looking back at this when you are older, you will only regret it if you don't pick yourself up now. There are people starving and dying from diseases in this world at this moment while you are living comfortably and have nothing to worried about other than education. Count your blessings

matrix what is your problem?! A 1020 (or 1540) is NOT a one-way ticket to community college (oh the horror, community college). I know a LOT of people with SATs lower than that who are going to real, 4 year universities. No, they sure aren't harvard, but to automatically assume someone--obviously, a very capable someone, as his GPA shows--will not succeed anywhere but a CC is absolutely wrong. And quite mean, too, but I'm not sure you care about that. And, there are a lot of people out there getting good educations at CC's, so it's not the end of the world.

Prestige can only take you so far. And someone who lacks prestige can more than make up for it with his/her work ethic and talents and motivation. Honestly--the most successful person I know is a Boise st. grad and the least successful person I know has a Harvard MBA.

Also, don't get mad at your parents. They are getting older everyday and you will miss them when they are gone. Practice forgiveness, always, even if they are wrong

If you need anything PM and I'll try to help you out.

hey man, i guess your a really smart person. And I admire, your knowlege, and i really do. In eight grade if you are getting 1020, you are definitely up there and gl on your sats.
And if community college is for me, matrix then so be it. I have nothing loose at this point, i gave it all I have. I hope you good luck on your future. May You not Wind UP community college :)

this student's GPA is obviously inflated if you do that bad on the SAT

matrix, you sound like one of those losers who play magic cards all day, get a life man

Well guys.... I really really want to thank you guys for the support you gave me. I love you guys, your the Best. Not to brag or offend anyone, but i go to one of the top public schoool. and the one out of two that offers the IB Program. And I just found out only about 6 made ivy leagues..All the top kids, who got like 2200 sats and like over 4.0 gpa, got all rejected and waitlisted at the ivies. This is VERY VERY LOW for our school. we are depressed, but i am happy im not the only one.
And now i must follow my dreams to ucb.Got a school and transfer out to ucb. Im going there for undergraduate, graduate, live there, get married there, have children there and die there :) lol.
Thank You Very Much. I Love You Guys, and The Support You Gave me

Glad you're feeling better

Don't look too far ahead though, life is unpredictable and has many surprises, which makes it all the more interesting and worthwhile. Good luck

Yay Miller is back! Well the most important thing is that your friends lova ya and you still have plenty of new friends to meet in your life. Focus in on your friends and you will feel God's love (If you are into that religious business (insert smiley if possible).

And one more thing. You don't have to be that nice to people like Matrix Super Cool Dude beacuse those people will always be trapped in their angry shell of a life.

btw how did i end up in the NY times?

WOW!! Miller, I'm proud of u! good to hear you're back with such a good news!

matrix: There are about 3400 four-year colleges in the US. A large percentage of them accept anyone who applies that has a high school diploma.

Bestmiler: Does that mean you got in to one of your schools?

i realized this today? first after seeing kids who are ten times smarter than me get rejected and waistlisted, shows im not all alone. One of my friend is the same position as me. She got rejected from all the ivies and her best one duke. NOW ITS MY TURN TO HELP THOSE ARE IN NEED. She exactly like me, when i was a week ago.
Secondly i realized, if i died at 17, i wouldnt be in Track anymore. NO WAY JOSE!!!!. I love track to much, i love running. If feels good, today i actually ran, like the old days. Nothing to worry about, just blasting through the streets, at 60 degree weather, not too cold or hot, and wind blowing in my head. Man i love track!!!

Miller you got it figured out! Keep on running!
