hi, ben can i ask;
from what i can see at some of matt's prev blogs, the selection n reviews have started, have they for international applicabts? The thing is my main board exams; Singapore-Cambridge GCE A level results are due early march and my school always receommends sending a copy to even US universities as i am not sure how Alevel results are treated in US. But will it be too late to send in then as tje earliest day i can fax a copy is the day they are released. Will they6 still be accepted. They are after all my main board exams and the results my sec-sch sends are projected/predicted grades..

I had my real A Level results from the Nov exams sent immediately to them. It's a good thing I did, or it would not have reached in time to be considered.

oh apparently the US colleges judge Singaporean applicants more on predicted grades, prelims, sats, teacher recs and essays. A-levels are just to supplement the mid-yr report, and they should be more or less consistent with predicted grades. As Ben said, decisions should already have been made before the release of the A-level results (for the november batch)

hey mit girl, where/which jc u from..me form vj... found few otherd from vj too
thnx for ur commets both of u...ya i will fax them asap results out....cos my normal jc grades have beem mediocore due to slackin haha...so hopefully actal will be gd

Mit_hopefulgirl has it right - not just for Singapore, but all int'l apps.

Are A Levels needed for a decision to be made?

To amrik - I guess the A-levels would be a contributing factor if your results arrive before selection begins. I suppose if your results get to the adcom only after the selection round, they'll just use these grades to verify the consistency of your school performance - if you've been admitted by then, I don't suppose these results will have much bearing on the adcom's decision, unless you do really horribly (hopefully not!)

To neha1 - I'm from Raffles JC:-)

To Ben Jones- has MIT ever revoked anyone's admitted decision because of terrible midyr report grades? Thanks!=)

cool..me form vjc....i wanna know.......like unfortunately i have kinda slackin past 2 yrs so my jc grades are not great... i think my predicted greades shud be gd and if i did get gd results (much better than my normal grades), then it should help??

Yeah my results arrived about a week before selections began.

u gave ur Alevel in '03 rite?? hm...i will def send then....my normal jc grades have been pathetic for topo school standards

cos the results for last yr nov are due in less then 2 weeks

wait a minute..MIT wanted predicted scores?....Nooooo..i didn't send anyy predicted scores...they were pretty decent..ben, will MIT still take them?

Amrik - mit_hopefulgirl's answer is right on.

Mit_hopefulgirl - yes, if your mid-year report is bad enough, it can have undesirable consequences. All I can say is, keep those grades consistent!

Cloudpunk - too late to get them into committee, but you should send them anyway in case the committee is on the fence and decides to pull your folder.

amrik: how come u had results b4 selectn started?? i thought selection have already started and results due in 2 weeks???? me confused :(

will it be okay if I faxed them (predicted scores) and then send an official one by courier?

Well I had my results unofficially by 25th Jan, I begged for my Statement of Results and got it 4th of Feb, notarized and fedexed it to MIT the same day and they signed for it on 7th of Feb. (They stopped accepting material after Wed. 16th of Feb). myMIT says it received a "Midyear Grade Report" from me and has it "processed" whereas I am not from a US school system (intuitively obvious). I suppose this is their way of saying that they have my grades.

huh!!!! ohhhh..... oopz..u are in trinidad....when exactly did u sit for a levels and when are they officially supposed to come out??

I sat A Levels from 12 Oct (Chem Paper 5) to 24th Nov (Further Math Paper 2). Hell of a long exam period. :) I actually had my results and profiles already, but I could not send anything to MIT until I got the real statement of results from my exam centre and got them notarized.

hmm.....tts was my exam period too!! i had absolutely no idea u cud request ur resluts early!! anyone in singapore knows u cud have ur results in jan!?!? or am i juz beong dumb n missin something :(

Well I don't know how it works in Singapore, but the CIE website said results would be available to centres on Jan 21st through their online program.

Ben, if you are reading this can you explain this to me:
