A level student.. McGill status "reviewed - decision pending"

I applied to McGill's Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering back in November. Just a few days ago my application status changed to "Reviewed - decision pending". Anyone else in a similar situation? Any ideas as to when an actual decision may come out? I am kind of nervous.

Same here although for different facultys. I do the A Levels aswell. What are your grades If I may ask and are they predicted or achieved?

@bubu111
I wrote AS Arabic, Biology Chemistry and Math, with ABAA respectively… as for the pridicted grades, they are AAAA
How about you? What faculties did you apply to, if you don’t mind me asking?

Tryed for Management and Arts.

B in AS English Language. Dropped after AS

Achieved AAC in 3 AL’s. C was because of some problems I had in my life during the time. Got stressed out and bombed the paper despite it being quite easy. Re-sitting the paper in May and I’m predicted A*. I guess only reason I’m not rejected yet is because of the 2 good AL grades. Hoping it all works out!.

As your doing Arabic, I assume your board is CIE or Edexcel? Hope things work out well for you too by the way.

@bubu111 oh that’s a shame, you seem really intelligent I wish you the best!
Yes, my board is Edexcel. I am so worried about my admission decision as well as the A2 tests coming up soon -.-
Let me know how everything goes:)

Hey so I applied mid-December to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Desautels Management. My grades were AAAB (goddamn you Physics) in AS Math, History, Economics and Physics. What worries me is that a large number of people from my grade have gotten in (around 30-40) and my status says Reviewed - Decision Pending" too. Should I be worried?

A-level student here, did through edexcel! My advice : try and get the highest possible grades you can coz I heard unis here, not just mcgill, give a lot of weight to the a-levels! Even over their own canadian systemm.

kanchuka, you got accepted for which faculty and your grades if I may ask?

i got in to engineering with AAA*A for Further maths, maths, economics and physics respectively.

Are you applying while currently in Sixth form or have you finished? I mean are your grades predictions or achieved?

achieved, took a gap year.

Ah, ok. I’m thinking of taking one myself and picking up an extra subject. Your grades are really good, I assume you tryed for Oxbridge and the likes aswell? How did that go?

Ah nah man, I didn’t go for Oxbridge. But I got Imperial & UCL from the UK. And if you want my advice, don’t take a gap year. Its better of you start Uni fresh out of high school!

Where you from btw? and is McGill your top pick?

Im from London but lived all over. Singapore/India/UK. Yeah, mcgill is my top pick. Though I dont think I’ll get the offer. I had 13 papers in November. One of my exams got ruined in november. CIE exam clashes killed me. I had a 3 hour paper followed by a 30 min break and then another 2.5 hour paper starts lol. I had a clash like that on 3 different days. Just lost my head on one of the days lol. Ended up with AAC, pretty sure if it was on anyother day I would have topped that one too. Told mcgill I’m predicted A/A* in my May resit, but I dont think they will consider it. I would be fine even if they gave me a conditional with AAA* lol.

Also, why do you think a gap year is bad? Did you take it to resit some modules or just to chill for sometime? Most people I talked too seem enjoy having a year of fun before starting uni.

Hahah don’t be so pessimistic , you never know! Like i said A-Level’s carry a lot of weight!

And as for the gap year thing I did it to chill and get some extra work experience. But once the work experience period ended I was crazy bored! Still am !!

Yeah, lol I get what you mean. I’m hesitating taking a gap year mainly for the boredom factor. I’m pretty sure I can kill a good 4/5 months max with friends, tv shows, some work experience and stuff but after that it will literally be like staring at the clock waiting for each minute to pass. Makes me remember my school days where I use to stare at the clock throughout each lesson - haha.

Yeah exactly! So unless its a complete must that you take a gap year or you have something planned out for the whole year don’t take one!

PEACE and good luck with your app :)
