A levels without O levels

Hey guys

I am from India. I did my grade 10 from ICSE board(well recognized Indian Board but it's grade 10 qualification isn't standalone as O levels), then i shifted to A-levels. My A-levels results would be out in Feb, so i'll have to submit my predicted grades.
My problem is(are):

1) I didn't took O Levels.
2) took only 3 subjects at AS/A level(Physics, Chemistry, Maths).
3) Took AS/A levels both in the same session(Nov06)
Thus i won't have my official AS level results while applying.

Is that unusual? Will they reject me outright?
my AS/A level trial results are AAA. SAT is fine(2300), took 3 subject test (Physics, Chem, Maths IIC), 2400 in that. ECs are great(community service, international fairs ...)

i think u will be fine as far as the ICSE is concerned, if as you say it is a well-recognised Indian qualification

Did you give both AS and A2 Levels in Nov' 06 or only the AS? Either way you can apply for fall next year as long as your A'Levels are finished by June-July next year. Of course having the AS results would've been a little better, but no one is going to reject you outright because of that!

I always thought that 8 O levels were the minimum requirement for a high school certificate. Weird.

i guess the question you shld ask is, "with your current qualifications, are you qualified to enter a university in India?" if the answer is yes, then you ahve nothing to worry about.

banedon17:you will be very surprised to know that Indian unis selection criteria is way way different from US..........here we have Entrance Exam(generally for all)to enter into a college(and by this I mean they hav ranking system on the basis of which you are alotted a college/course)...and as for grading system,...they dont consider which exam you took, you need to simply pass those exams and thats it!!!!.....
Rocker:Hey,you are worryin too much, just send all your transcripts(marksheets) all signed/predicted marks by your principal and whatever is required, generally,we are required to send 10th and 12th marksheet, which in your case is ICSE 10th marksheet and AS/A level's predicted marks....

I am giving both my AS/A2 in nov, most of the schools in India allow their students to give complete A levels in single sitting. Is that normal in other countries.
How many subjects are considered normal at A level? I have 3 at both AS and A2 level.
And yes i am eligible to attend any university in India. The exam thing Issac is mentioning is only for Med/Engg schools. There also they have minimum requirements- pass in grade 12 etc.

Hey rocker, are you from The Cambridge school, Kolkata? That's the only school offering A-levels in Kolkata(as per my knowledge).

most students sit for their AS and A2 separately to reduce the pressure, so the fact that you are taking them both at once will work in your favour (as long as you can get good grades).

since you will have a gap of a few months between Nov and fall next year, why not take some extra subjects (say a couple of AS subjects or 1 A2 subject) to boost your academic profile? Or maybe you can work on making your ECs even more impressive. Remember 3 subjects is usually quite enough, but naturally 4 subjects are better than 3.

Where are you planning to apply?

Thanks NBZ, superb idea. I would be taking 2 more subjects-English and ICT.
I am applying to the Ivies and some of the top 15 LACs.

Abhishiv: Yes i am from Cambridge school kolkata, where are you from?
