This answer is directly from Common App’s website:“You should report your current Class Rank and GPA, even if they might change later in the school year. If your school does not rank, select “None” from the dropdown menu. If your school calculates both weighted and unweighted Class Rank/GPA, report the weighted value.”

Journalism is in fact considered an EC

3.I don’t absolutely know about this one but if a student went on one by himself it would be considered an EC. So I don’t see why not.

4.Not sure

5.The whole point of your ECs are to list what is important to you and what you enjoy doing. So I feel that elaborating on your specific EC is to your benefit because you can explain its impact, why you did/do it, etc. Instead of just writing some general description that doesn’t show your feelings about it or why you enjoy doing it.

In that case, your Journalism class is not an EC. It would be like saying Studying in the summer for AP classes is an EC, ya know? Just doesn’t work. Now if you did something outside of school such as your provided a periodical in your local newspaper or some of your writings have been published somewhere, then that is an example of a Journalism EC.

Technically the Advanced Regents is considered a honored diploma. Since it shows you got a 90 or better, I would put it in your honors/awards section. Unless there is a part for it in the academics section, which I don’t think there is.
