a little bit of help, please?

soooo. i’m working on college essays. i have too many topics. all of them are horrible. i’m writing a few essays just to see if any of them happen to turn out well. i don’t know what to write about. for various colleges that ask for something along the lines of “500 words about yourself” what topic do you think i should chose and why?

a) volunteering on my father’s campaign for local office & my interest in politics (not planning on majoring in it though, just bein a good citizen) … also volunteered for Kerry, participated in trip to washington w/ school, volunteered for NARAL, too many things to fit all of them in the essay but i suppose it is a big part of “who i am”

b) my house, my family, & i. very messy house. very funny family. we are all bff and barely ever fight for real, it always turns out as a big joke.

c) a character that a write a lot of creative writing pieces about for english class that is a lot like me, but crazier. she says and does what i would be to shy to say/ do. i enjoy writing about her now whereas english used to be my least fav subject.

d) sledding. the most fun thing to do. ever. seriously… just my idea of a perfect afternoon. go out sledding w/ friends, come inside and drink hot chocolate and bake cookies. when colleges say they want to hear something about you, anything… is that an acceptable topic?

sooo, what do you think??

Choose b). This will reveal the most about yourself, just what the colleges are looking for.

anyone else have any comments?

I think you could do something with D - if you can figure out how to make sledding a metaphor for challenge, hard work, growing up...in a subtle way - don't hit us over the head with a hammer. Also, if you can weave in some stories - maybe about sledding with your family, with little kids. A sounds kind of ordinary. B has potential. Not sure about the fictional character. Maybe a conversation between you and the character would be interesting.
