Okay, say I'm applying ED to some school, and I'm going to hear back 12/15. I have several other schools lined up in case I don't get in, and I have to send teacher recs to all of them. Do I ask the teachers to send in the recs before 12/15, or after my decision? I mean, what with Christmas vacation and the rush before, giving my teacher two weeks notice to send out ~10 rec letters (even if they've already been written) seems like a liability.

In this case, am I allowed to send in RD materials to these other schools before I hear from my ED school? Assuming this is allowed, and then assuming that I get into my ED school, then I would have to write to the other schools that received the recs and tell them that I've been accepted ED elsewhere, correct?

Your best bet would be to prepare all of your applications. If you are accepted to yoru ed school you will have a great shredding party. if not atleast all of the other apps are ready and you willnot have to worry about working on them when your head may not be in the place to do so.

If the same teachers are doing all of youre recs, it should be no problem as they are now usually all done as word documents and they just print out more forms. As a courtesy, you should let them know that you are applying ed and the date you need to have your ED stuff in.

For RD, your application usually has to be in by Dec. 31/ Jan 1. The college will give some leeway to the GC rec. midyear report and teachers and their stuff usually does not have until feb/march. If you want to send in your stuff you can (they will just open a file for you), but don't send in your application fee until it is due on the 31st because the fees are non-refundable
