A little late, but still curious...

I am having a little trouble remembering the app, but did it ask for the specific major you wanted within the college you applied to? If so, does choosing a less popular major versus a more popular one help one's chances?

Anyone have any answers?

yes, we did have to say the specific major...although i believe one could put undecided....I would say that your choice does matter to an extent...maybe not so much for CAS, but stuff like theater, journalism, communications that I believe you MUST designate that as your choice to enter would affect your admissions to an extent. It's got to.

what you put there helps the admissions people evaluate you in a more helpful frame, and won't affect the decision substantially. they'd probably look at your hs courses and see how that matches up with your intended major, and they'd also use that info to make sure the entire freshman class they select won't be composed of theater majors, say.

but lots of people will be 'undecided,' so they definitely won't put too much consideration into it.
