Hey everyone, I'm EL Mastermind.

I should first start off with, well, I'm a minority. My grades aren't absolutely the best, but they aren't the worse. I don't entirely agree with the pseudo affirmative action process, but hey, I guess it benefits me.

I've got a 2190, and I'm half Hispanic. If my grades/EC's match up (president/vp of a few clubs, top 2%), and I write good essays...do I have a relatively fair/above average chance at being accepted to Harvard or a similar University?

I feel completely weird asking this, as there are so many more qualified applicants on this board who ask for chances. I hope I'm not out of line.

Thank you :D

I would say yes, you have a chance, but there is an amazing African-American/ Hispanic that posted rejection on the EA decisions page… so now I’m not so confident. :/

Anyway, I would say it’s worth applying. We can never know for certain what the admissions people may see in you that they didn’t see in another person with your stats. Good luck! :)

Apply! Being URM will give you a huge boost… but like Joyfulpoet said… there’s always a chance they won’t accept you (for some reason)

But if you write a darn good essay with solid ECs, you’re def in the running :)

I am also a minority, maybe not a URM, but I think being Afghan counts for a minority XD
ANNYYYWAYS, I had a 31 ACT and 720, 640, and 630 on sepetate subjects tests…
But I had good ECs (like you) and some darn good essays. (I had about 4-5 teachers look over my essays.)
And I got in SCEA.
I think it is very, very possible. Just try your hardest and write well. Best of luck! :)

Thank you everyone =D

Congrats Tar <3. That’s amazing :D.

I recognized a couple trolls on the decisions thread who claimed to be URM’s with amazing stats. I’m not sure if it was on the harvard forum or somewhere else though =O
