A loft?

I'm debating on whether I should leave my bed the way it is sitting on the ground or make a loft? They look really easy to do and could save a lot of space for my other things. No one around my dorm has an official loft but instead put there bed on their bookshelves. I don't know if my college even allows this. Carroll college in Helena Montana. Is their like a cheap kit that I can by to do this and if so what do I do with the original metal bed frame the college provided?

If you drink a lot, I wouldn’t recommend it. Nothing worse than stumbling into your room drunk at 2 am and trying to climb up on that thing in the dark.

You put your beds up on bookshelves? Seriously? That sounds like a really bad idea.

I know my school offered lofts free to any students living in dorms that wanted them. They figured that was a lot safer than having students come up with their own makeshift versions that were probably horribly unsafe coughbookshelvescough.

I lived in a really tiny dorm room my sophomore year where both my roommate and I had our beds lofted. Our computers were underneath the beds, and when we reclined we still bumped heads. It was a necessity, but I liked it since I finally learned how to sleep without moving out of fear of falling out of bed.
