A lot of B's in AP classes

Compared to a student who takes a lot of AP classes but gets B’s in them to a student who gets A’s in regular/honors/1 or 2 AP, which student will UCB accept?

A school like UCB wants to see you take (and ace) the most difficult courses available.

Practically though, if you could get a 4.2 with a 2 APs vs a 3.9 with 5 APs, I think you’d be a better candidiate at a UC with the higher GPA.

I think I will have a 4.2-4.4 Weighted GPA

That’s Awesome! Great job!

I’d say the person with more AP’s is more likely to gain admission because a 3.9 isn’t much lower than a 4.2 if the person is taking twice as many AP’s. Having a high GPA is important, but if you only get it because you took 1-2 AP’s, that’s not really impressive. It’s better to take more AP’s and do well in all or most of them, than to overload yourself and do poorly or only take a few and do well.
