.... is it just me or did A TON of people get deferred.. do they not reject a lot early decision?

I know some people who got rejected ED.... I got deferred :/

They actually rejected a LOT of people... I got deferred as well :/
It seems like they deferred applicants they actually might accept RD.

Deferrees, let's not lose hope! I'm actually glad that I still have chance at Cornell as well as other colleges!

yeah. i got deferred as well. i'm not quite sure how to take it

My D, was deferred at Columbia and later rejected. Her friend was deferred at MIT and later accepted. My D, now a Cornell student, had higher SAT's, GPA and class rank than her friend now attending MIT. My D also had higher SAT's, GPA and class rank than another student in her class that was accepted at Stanford.

College admission at the selective schools, given you have the credentials, seems to be a crap shoot.

It is a complete crap shoot.
I'm hoping that at least one school will decide that I'm a good fit, but I've pretty much resigned to the fact that I won't be accepted anywhere highly selective such as Penn, Dartmouth, etc.
My second choice after Cornell was Williams, but you never know with these schools. Williams is extremely selective.

I was rejected, but you're right, it seemed like there weren't a lot of us rejects. A lot of deferred.

I have no idea where to start now...Georgetown, JHU, Carnegie Mellon, and Northwestern are now viable matches for me, but I've always wanted to attend an Ivy. UPenn? Brown? Certainly not Yale, Harvard, or Princeton, that's for sure. But you never know what might happen...

Ugh... I'm deferred ED for Cornell CAS.... do I have really low chance for RD round? I'm thinking of doing a bunch of things to appeal to Cornell >.<

Are CALS deferrals serious deferrals or polite deferrals, usually?

I have no idea Shifu... I wish I could tell you. I'm wondering the same about HumEc.
Filling out RD apps/doing essays is starting to make me nauseous, though, that's for sure.

What are some possible reasons for deferrals? I have no idea what deferrals really mean. XD

it means they are still interested in your app, and will reconsider you.
