A&M 2011 Fall Transfer. Accepted?

@sabrina - Same boat as me. Yes you are rejected. I think you should give your spring grades to reconsider, thats what i am gonna do anyway.

i was denied because i don’t have any math classes, my chemistry doesn’t equal there chemistry and microbiology doesn’t count as biology even though bio is a prereq for microbiology, i’m pre nursing so didn’t have to take biology and I tested out of maths and took statistics (which doesn’t count either).

if I would have put my second choice first, which was sociology, there acceptance is based on GPA not classes, the guy I talked to said I most likely would of been accepted and its too late now… i have a solid GPA.

if I don’t get accepted into TCU or Texas Tech Nursing then I don’t know what I will do, because I am NOT getting a 4 year degree from Tech unless its nursing.

frustrated and upset with TAMU, especially since my family is alum and several generation aggs.

police, thank you for the reply. Do you think they’ll have spaces in June? I applied to Mays first, but then they changed me to general studies, now I’m rejected. Gosh, that makes me feel so bad =(

Tigger were you flat out denied or wait listed?

@sabrina - Honestly, i don’t know if i they will have any space. But i have a feeling in my gut that i wont be accepted even after i sent in my spring grades. You are a transfer right? How much Units and GPA do you have? Is the change to general studies and automatic change they did for you or did you do it yourself?

I’m surprised I got accepted so quick. It saddens me that I may not go to TAMU, yet some of you really want to go. :(

@police, I come from a top 40 liberal arts college with 3.7 GPA, the way we calculate the units is quite different from big U, we took 4 courses a semester and each worth 1 credit. So I have about 16 credits in total.

I think I got accepted to A&M cause my online app went to step 5 and said “Congratulations! You have been admitted to Texas A&M University. Welcome to the Aggie family! To accept your offer of admission and affirm your intention to attend Texas A&M, please check the box below.” =D

@Tigger I am really sorry about your app  I hope Tech gets you I mean a 3.7 is really good.

@Esteef Whaaaaat… I applied to both UT and A&M and my main choice has always been A&M. A&M has the perfect school environment, the spacing and greenery over there just sets the mood for me. Its always quiet which is great because all I care bout is my studies and to graduate fast without distraction. Also not to mention cheaper rent. UT may be better choice if you want to enjoy your college life with friends and parties( I am sure A&M throws mad parties too ^_^) but from what I hear every weekend is a party in UT, and since the school is so close to the city it makes it more fun. I live in Houston(3/2 hr away from A&M), so if I wanted a city life I could always go home on the weekends =). Anyways my brother and I are both planning to transfer this summer, get a decent apartment and finish our BEng here. Nice talking to you guys!

Melica what’s your major and what’s your gpa?

Congrats Melica12…^^…

When did you apply, melica?

xD Sorry guys I don’t usually get on here much, but I got the mail package today, so I can share details with you on what I got accepted on.

Nicoool22 "Melica what’s your major and what’s your gpa? "
Electrical Engineering, 3.45 57 Credits.

PetroboyVN " Congrats Melica12…^^…

When did you apply, melica? "

Hey Thank you  and I applied umm around 28th of February I believe, around that date give or take 2 days.

@Nicoool22 My first choice was Chemical Engineering, and second choice Electrical Engineering.
On the letter I received last night It said my major choice Electrical Engineering (lower)

I don’t really mind EE, since my dad has a PhD in EE so I figured it would be a good choice, just I don’t understand why I didn’t get in as Chemical Engineering major(I basically have all the requirement for it, I even checked it with them). I guess I will call in to check why EE was picked for me instead. Anyways more jobs to choose from as EE xD.

Feel free to ask any questions, I will gladly give out any information I know to help you guys get things straightened out.

@Melica12: ohhh… I’ve just figured out I was so stupid when I hit “submit” on Mar 14 (just before the deadline couple of hours) since I turned my essay and online application together… Maybe, that is the reason… So, you re gonna study in TAMU, Melica? It is my first and only choice to me…

How long does it take to go from step 2 to step 3/or 4?
I’m still in step 2 for a while…(krazy…Y_Y)

@All: you guys have any news from engineer departments? Are they full or not when we want to study in upper…

petroboy - did you send all your stuff before you hit apply? like transcripts? they needed to be there by march 15. if not, i think you will be out of luck. if so, many transfers do not get a decision until may or after.

@Mike: Yeah, I did send all stuff before Mar 15 (soon actually, they received them on Mar 09 ). Since I revised my essay many times, I submit it with my application on Mar 14 …^^.

It’s very good to hear the information from you that some transfer students might get the decision until May… I’ll keep hoping… Are you current student in TAMU? Anw, nice to meet you!

no i am not a student. i went there in the 80s, and now i have kids around college age.

: )

i think a bunch of the transfers got their decisions around march 15, so if you only sent it in at that time you might still have a while to wait.

hopefully everything will work out for you.

I am an international transfer student who got accepted approx. 2 weeks ago. I have not received the acceptance letter or welcome paquet yet. I’ve heard it usually takes a week from the sent date for it to arrive to international locations (I live in Peru) and I am anxious.
I am transfering with approx. 60 credits/hours and a GPA of around 3.2 (if I am not mistaken). I applied to the Economics BS major and already signed up for the New Students Conference.

I believe my step 4 and 5 got updated in the AIS portal on the same day.
Does anyone know what are the chances of getting a job in a nearby location (such as Houston) by the end of your four years if you do not have much of a working experience? For an econ BS major? Perhaps an internship or something related should be considered?

If any other international student has any questions or wishes to discuss something feel free to ask me as I am also experiencing this whole waiting till’ Fall situation.

Andres ; D

Wow. 3.2 and you got into economics…

Give it another week, the letter will come soon.

I feel like day is longer than 24 hrs…Y_Y…
Keep praying… Any chances for me?
My Quick Stat: (I am transfered and graduated from high school in my country—> so no SAT ^^)
Credits: ~120 quarter hrs in WA state (~72 sem hrs)
GPA: 3.85
Major: Petroleum Engr.

Date submitted: Mar. 14th, 2011 (>.< that caused the problem!)

Does anyone have experience about international transfer process?

Have a nice day guys!

Accepted today! OOS (CA) from a two-year CC, 4.0 GPA, and got into my first choice (ChemE)! This really made my day. :D

awesome bluedia! Congratulations
