I have applied and uploaded my essays to ApplyTexas just today. Just got my test scores last week. Are my essays good? Everyone has an opinion - hopefully very good.

In a school of 200 (K-12) it doesn't take but 2 smart friends that are a little over-zealous on grades to knock you out of the top 10%. My math is lower than I would like, but my minor/2nd major will be History (I know, not much job opportunity). My family has an A&M legacy and it is my 1st choice, on a path to get a Marine commission.

Do I need to retake the SAT to get higher math?

Retaking the SAT could be worthwhile. You only need 30 more points in the math section to be an automatic academic admit.

You’re going to have a very hard time in engineering with M570 - 600+ is recommended, and 650 is a good benchmark. In addition, it’s almost impossible to double major if you’re doing engineering because you have a fixed program each semester with no time for additional classes.

Automatic academic admits are in, but not necessarily to the major of your choice. You’ d definitely get History, but I’m not sure about Aerospace Engineering.

Yes, I know I was so close. My reading was plenty high.

So I might get admitted to A&M and NOT get to choose my major? That would be worse than not getting admitted. Hmmm… Does anyone else have that experience at A&M? As far as I know, there are no other application or admission processes at A&M.

Yes, you may be admitted and not get to choose your major.

Your CR and W scores are excellent, the problem is that you want to go into engineering and didn’t even break 600 on the regular match section.
An idea: take the ACT on Dec 14 (registration by nov 8) AND take SATsubjects in physics and math2 on dec 7 (registration by nov 8). This way TAMU shouldn’t have any doubt about the strength of your application.
