A&M Engineering

Hi,
If I am an auto academic applicant (top 25% and at least a score of 1360 on sat) to A&M does that also mean I will also be automatically admitted into their engineering school if I apply also?

Your subject line should have said “Texas A&M” instead of “A&M”, since there are many other A&M schools.

http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshman/apply-engineering#admitted says that “All applicants who select Engineering as a first choice major, including those who qualify for automatic admission to the University via Top 10% or Academic admission, will be reviewed holistically for placement into General Engineering. To qualify for Early Action notification, your admission file must be complete by October 15.”

I.e. admission (automatic or otherwise) to Texas A&M does not guarantee admission to the engineering division.

When you apply to Engineering you are first admitted to the university automatically if you qualify and are then reviewed by the College of Engineering. Who can either accept or deny you. So in short, no, being auto admit does in no way guaranteed admissions into the engineering department.

Also, just to clarify. Academic admit into the university is a score of 1360, with specific sub scores in math & English…not just that the score is 1360.
