Hallo
I have been accepted into College of Science with 1st choice Biology BS and 2nd choice General Studies.
I was wondering if anyone knew if it is still possible to request the major change to Mays Business School. (such as finance major, etc.)

I truly appreciate your help and hope to see you next year!

I don’t think you will be able to, honestly. They are only accepting 75 transfers into Mays this Summer and Fall and they are pretty sought after. Your gpa and amount of hours? Have you done the two Econs, Business Calc and two Accountings?

Oh I see so everyone has to take these classes before actually attend Mays?
Because this will be my first year, I wouldn’t have GPA in college.

So I have to maintain high GPA and take such classes in first year to transfer?

Mays is not one of the colleges you can transfer into as a freshman. You have to be accepted into Mays for freshman year.
I am not sure what steps you would need to take to transfer into Mays from Biology or Genereal Studies. If you are interested, I would make an appointment with an adviser at Mays and discuss your path.

My blunder, I didn’t realize you were a freshman. Lol. Yeah, if you weren’t accepted to Mays from the start, you can’t just ask for a change of major. Some schools are like that, but I’d imagine some of the sciences, engineering and business will never be. I do think you would be able to switch to General Studies, however, and this would be your best bet. A lot of students pursuing Mays are GenStudies and they can take all the requirements to transfer internally. Take the right classes and maintain a 3.4 or 3.5 and your set if you still want to study business…

Oh wow I understand…but will there be much difference if I transfer at sophmore year ?

FYI, I’ll be in honors program

Well in order to switch your major to Business, you have to have completed 30 hours at TAMU. There shouldn’t be much of a difference at all because it will be your first 30 hours. Talk to an advisor at the NSC and you should be able to get it straight. I’m not certain how the honors works, but I know for a fact that university honors and Business honors are two completely different animals.
