A Major Opportunity for Grinnellians!

Would you consider voting to send Grinnell's Social Entrepreneurs Group to the White House??

Grinnell is the only small school on the list, and yet it's in the running to win!

(My S is not involved in this; I'm just trying to help out these great Grinnellians!)

Vote Grinnellians as Champions of Change - News | Grinnell College

Done - thanks for the tip - what a great enterprise!

Well, they did it! The Grinnell community - past, present, future and otherwise related - pulled it out for them. All of the nominated projects were phenomenal, but it was pretty exciting to see one small school amass more votes than large universities and outpoll the Ivies…

Strong work and thanks for the tip.

I think the number of votes speaks, at least in part, to the strength of the community and the way everyone supports each other. Grinnell students who were not involved in the project posted Facebook messages, asking for votes for Grinnell. The Chamber of Commerce encouraged city residents to vote for it. Postings on the Parents’ listserve encouraged votes and I know a fair number of parents solicited votes from others. Pretty neat that a school of 1600 students could get over 25,000 votes.

And the alumni voted in droves, thanks to Facebook!

If anyone’s interested: the White House presentation will be webcast Thursday March 15th at 2:50 EDT on Live | The White House.
